The Write Shack Wrap-Up Screening, Reading & Fundraiser (June 14 @ 4:00)

It has been an exciting inaugural run for The Write Shack, and we’ve been creating some wild, some engaging, and some down right kooky stuff this year. Thankfully, we have often had the cameras rolling and have captured much of it for posterity and for evidence that we have actually been working and creating while having heaps and heaps of fun.  Come help us celebrate all our hard work and share in some of our zany style of a good time.

The Wrap-Up party is also our way of showing our appreciation for all the willing participants and for those of you who have contributed to make The Write Shack possible.  In addition, many of you have been asking when you could give to help fund the program, so we will be selling tickets at the door for whatever you can give to the program.  Food, especially of the cookie sort, is always accepted as legal tender.

Your faith and contributions have helped the Write Shack grow from a tiny speck of an idea into a reality, a reality that has expanded into a  year long program at Village Gate, as well as a free weekend program serving a dozen children of the Oceanside School District. None of this could have happened without you, so come help us celebrate what we have done and help us get to where we know we can go, into the hearts and imaginations of many more children.

Join us at 4:00 this coming Tuesday when we will be screening a clip show featuring snippets from the student projects, as well as showcasing a few readings from some of our Write Shackers.  Pizza and popcorn will be provided.

OUR STORY BEGINS….

Once upon a time there was a tiny shack on the coast of a remote tropical island. In that shack was a man at a solitary desk, sitting with only his thoughts and a typewriter. Out from that shack came the stories that engage our wonder and unite our hearts and minds.

And now that magic of the shack has been unleashed in North County San Diego, offering any inquisitive youth a chance to bottle his or her own magic and send it out into the world.

The Write Shack is elated to announce its official status as a California Nonprofit Organization and is ready to extend its services into San Diego County.
